It borders on being Carter alone - a president who became president after winning the Iowa caucus in order to gain the nomination.
We should not take the Iowa caucus as any sort of death knell for Howard Dean, and, simply basing a prediction on historical patterns, we do not want to choose a candidate for the general election on the grounds that he won Iowa.
Historically, winning Iowa is a bad indicator.
