Open Thread and Diary Rescue

There were so many touching personal remembrance diaries about 9/11 that I couldn't choose the best - so many were eloquent, heartbreaking, personal ... just do a search for first-hand accounts. It's been a jewel of a day.
Up for rescue tonight:
- Paul Rosenberg's The Quasi-Cult Behind "The Path To 9/11" offers research into Youth with a Mission, the group that funded the Path to 9/11 film.
- mefpdx's What Would Gandhi Do? reviews Gandhi's actions in South Africa and muses about how to put his principles into action in our daily lives.
- Two canvassing diaries are worthy of more looks: MissLaura's A Diary Not About Hooking Up gives an excellent account of the joys of canvassing for Paul Holdes in New Hampshire, and HybriDude's FL-25 Canvass Report from Saturday does the same for his Florida district.
- Gravedugger's Hard, Cold Revenge (against the mouse) gives a round-up of practical actions to take against Disney and ABC for airing Path to 9/11. Great links to other action diaries and places to immediately file objections.
- besieged by bush's A count worth keeping ... 9/11/2006 -- Day 1825 and Osama remains wanted ... offers up a terrific idea - candidates prefacing every speech with how long Osama has been at large since the attacks on the World Trade Center - every day marking another day to plot, plan and organize against the United States.
- gjohnsit's History of Iraq: 1921 - 1933 is a continuation of an excellent series on the history of the formation of Iraq.
- teacherken's 100 Years ago today - a different kind of Anniversary brings to attention other anniversaries that take place on 9/11 in years other than 2001.
- ranting rev's Needed - A Jeremiah for Today explores the commodification and packaging of grief, as has been done with the 9/11 anniversary.
- MA Liberal's My Weekend at the Ipswich Peace House - and a request provides an uplifting story that reminds us there's more to working toward peace than being anti-war. One group that's making a difference is helping Iraqi children get much-needed medical attention.
- Anglico's How BlueNC Took Down the Puppetmaster looks at how North Carolina's homegrown version of Karl Rove got his comeuppance.
- techno's Kossack Populism--Marxism NOT is a thoughtful piece that lays out the failures of communism and the places in which it differs from Progressive populism. Highly recommended; good discussion going on in comments as well.
- Buckeye Hamburger's 9/11: A Tribute to Jeffrey Randall Smith is an extraordinary tribute to one of the WTC victims, written as part of a blogger project.
- hoipolloi's Kossack 9/11 Remembrances: A Comments Titles Poem creates a work of art out of comment subject headers as this community recalls 9/11/01.
Carnacki brings Top Comments of the Day.
