We have a Kerry for president sign on our lawn, the first time that I've ever done such a thing. Today, we received a manila envelope filled with anti-Kerry literature, much of it copied of of the internets. It was addressed to 'Resident' and had a postmark from the local post office, with no return address.
It includes:
A dopey 'job application' of John Kerry's (found at the Freeper site), with lame jokes and Swiftboat style attacks on John Kerry.
A document entitled "Don't be in a hurry to vote for John Kerry, think of your country's future". Um...I am. Trust me. It features standard Republican talking points as to why Bush is the best man for the job, while being typically vague about how he'll do it, and avoiding how he's royally messed things up over the last four years. It ends: "Since the Democrats won't give up on their quest to take down President Bush and our Republicans in Congress, we must use our most effective weapon against them - that's YOU." Excuse my while I go throw up.
Next, we have 'A few Kerry facts', including:
Kerry's religious advisor signed an amicus curiae brief in the Newdow Pledge Allegiance/Undergod supreme court case. Apparently she has no Christian values and can only represent 'Gay unitarians'
It then attacks Teresa for spending all of John Heinz's money. Um, it's her money now. Feh. Anyway it's full of vile spew saying that she's giving money to terrorists. Snopes has the true scoop on that one.
Apparently Heinz makes stuff in Mexico. That's nice. The Heinz family no longer owns the company. Go away.
Apparently John Kerryis rich. That's nice. George W. Bush isn't crying in his oatmeal about how poor he is, but you forgot that part. Go away. Oh, and JFK is raising taxes on the rich, but won't pay the new taxes because he is rich. Huh?
Then they go into Swiftboat spew, and there's some email about someone complaining about a Kerry event someplace. Whatever.
Next we have an email (no header info) with the lame Wake up speech. Yawn.
Last of all there's some pro-Bush literature. Apparently he's not done raising the deficit and wants to do it some more and by some miracle it'll be good for our economy. The other side of the page has anti-Kerry campaign lies. It's tiresome.
Most of all, I can't believe that this person felt the need to send it to me anonymously. Are they trying to intimidate me? Are they trying to convert me to their cause via cowardly means and freeper literature? This is what happens when you demand loyalty oaths and throw dissenting voices out of your rally.
All they've done is piss me off, and tonight I'm donating more money to the Kerry campaign and tomorrow I'm going to put up 3 more Kerry signs.
