In a newly released Helena Independent Record poll, Senator Conrad Burns trails both Democratic candidates.
Morrison has 48 percent to Burns' 43 percent, with 4 percent favoring another candidate and 5 percent undecided.
Tester has 46 percent to Burns' 43 percent, which is within the margin of error, making the results "about even," according to Associated Press polling guidelines. Six percent favor another candidate and 5 percent are undecided.
Morrison also has a more positive favorable/unfavorable rating than Burns, while Tester is even:
Morrison: 54 percent
Burns: 48 percent
Tester: 48 percent
This is a Rasmussen poll with an MOE of +/- 3%.
Just as in Florida, recent polls have fueled speculation that Senator Burns will drop out of the race to allow Congressman Rehberg to run. Rehberg holds healthy leads against both Democratic candidates in a hypothetical Senate matchup.
