New Lamont Ad Hits Hard - Should be a National Template

Thu Sep 07, 2006 at 09:30:38 AM PDT

Ned Lamont's campaign has a new ad up in Connecticut that is available for viewing in a 30 or 60 second format on their website.

This is a very hard hitting ad, with great Hillsman visuals.  But the words spoken by Ned Lamont in the ad are what really grab you.  They should serve as the template by which Dems run nationally.

The ad starts out with a young, college-aged man reading a list of names, presumably fallen soldiers in Iraq.  He is accosted by an older gentelman, but continues reading undeterred.  Then the voiceover of Ned Lamont starts.

Why do we listen to George Bush and Joe Lieberman tell us they know how to fight terrorism?  How have they made us safer?  What have they been right about so far? These are questions that demand answers.  Iraq has cost our country billions of dollars.

Cut to Ned Lamont speaking to the camera.

It's also cost us a lot more.

My cut and paste doesn't do it justice... go see the ad.  It is very powerful.

What have they been right about so far?  That to me seems to be a point that Dems never stress enough.  Dems will criticize Bush and the Republicans in Congress, but then get hit with the... What's your plan? line.  We need to put out simple plans, I agree... but in the end, we just need to fire back - What have the Republicans been right about so far?  Why should we trust them to continue in total power?  It seems like such a simple argument.

Way to go Ned.  His campaign is so important this fall for many reasons that go beyond just taking out Joe Lieberman.
