Tap or Snap: The New Politics

I study and teach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Broomfield, CO.  We have over a hundred students and fair number compete on a regular basis.  One of the truths of a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Tournement is the idea of "tap or snap."  This is contrasted with the training ethic of "take care of your partner."  During Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training you spar at a pace that allows you perform the techniques as fast as you can completely control the technique.  If you correctly perform a finishing move, e.g. arm bar, keylock, ankle lock, groin splitter, twister..., you sink it in and take it to the point of injuring your training partner.  If the person your training with is ignorant that they are caught or are being stubborn.  You take care of them and back off on the technique.  Sometimes you'll show them how they were caught and why they should have tapped.  In competition, you perform the technique in a controlled manner, but if the person your fighting with doesn't tap, you snap it.  Imagine several carrots being broken at once.

The Democrats need to take a tap or snap attitude into the next two years with the Republicans.  They are the stubborn assoholes that will not tap.  We won 233 SEATS in the house.  In one election, we trashed the Republican Revolution that Norquist, Reed, Rove, and Abromoff took 30 years to build.  We have the Republicans in an untenable position, but instead of tapping, they are talking trash.  It's time to snap it. If they keep talking smack, we break the other arm.  Maybe having to hire someone to wipe their ass will clue them in to the fact that they are Americans first and they need to stop flying the elephant higher than the Stars and Stripes.  If they still insist on being assholes, break a knee.  They want to be stuck in a mechanical wheel chair for six months while they heal up, fine.

A lot of Democrats believe that politics can be run like Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training.  If you help folks through the reasoning, they'll come around.  This assumes something that is simply not the case with more than half of the Republicans, i.e. they are rational.  They believe the rapture is going to happen in 2007.  They still support BushCO with everything that has happened.   How many parts of the Constitution ahve to be trashed before they come around? They think that the earth is 6,000 years old.  There is no reasoning with these folks, there is only power and control.  Tap or Snap.  Either submit or we break it.  Dubya thinks he can get in our face and tell us how he's going to escalate in Iraq;  we take him down, get full mount, and pound it out so the scrap he got mountain biking looks like a facial.

Dubya thinks he can wiretap, imprison, and torture; we need to investigate and prosecute the guilty to fullest extent of the law.  It is time to break them.

There is a lot of talk of healing.  Ford, Nixon, etc.  

FUCK THAT!  They can heal in prison.  If someone rapes your wife, you don't shake his fucking hand and hope that everyone can heal.  You either help the authorities put the fucker in prison or put him down a mine shaft.  Healing for who?  The rapist?  BushCO and the do nothing congress have raped the Constitution, destoyed America's standing in the world, and asked hundreds of thousands of Americans to die, be maimed, and kill for a pack of lies.

A couple of weeks ago I argued against impeaching Bush and Cheney, it was the holidays.  Good will towards all men and all that shit hand taken hold.  It's a new year, and the Repugs have learned nothing.
