CNN reported this morning:
CIA Director Porter Goss has decided against punishing agency employees singled out by the CIA inspector general for mistakes that contributed to the failure of U.S. intelligence to stop the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
"Goss also suggested he would oppose making public the report by CIA Inspector General John L. Helgerson contending... that the individuals blamed in the inspector general's report are "amongst the finest we have."
When will anyone accept ANY responsibility in the bush administration? This is bullshit and as Americans we deserve better. If their are answers then ALL of America deserves to know what's in that report. I guess if it doesn't serve Karl Rove and Scooter Libby's political interests then the hell with America's national security.
Here in New Mexico, our own senior US Senator Pete Domenici sold out national nuclear security so international pharmaceutical companies can cut their costs and gouge consumers even more.
Tucked away into the energy bill New Mexico's Senior Senator successfully stripped and gutted "restrictions on the export of highly enriched uranium, the same material used in the Hiroshima atomic bomb."
and why did Pete do it with the blessings of the bush administration? I posted about it in August here:
The actual driving factor is money. Firms that produce isotopes in Belgium, Canada and the Netherlands for export to the United States want to avoid the expense and inconvenience of converting their production processes to use the safer uranium.
That's Republican Free Market 101: Sellout the little guy at any expense and auction off their national security.
Would you expect anything less from an administration that treats faux reporters as real reporters and an administartion that can't even do a background check on their employee's or appointees?
