Welcome! The Senate Foreign Relations Committee reconvenes today at 10pm ET to consider the nomination of the now infamous John Bolton to the position of US Ambassador to the United Nations.
Unless you've been living under a rock the past month, you'll know that this nomination is highly controversial - with accusations and testimony against Bolton who bullied intelligence analysts and tried to get them fired for not providing him with the correct (cough, cough) intelligence about Cuba.

By now, kossacks are also intimately familiar with Melody Townsel, who claims to have been harassed (that's putting it nicely) by Bolton in Germany during the 90s.
Bolton is one of the least appropriate people ever to be nominated by a US president as US ambassador to the UN. His supporters state that he is the person to help reform the UN, yet he has stated in the past that his definition of reform closely resembles destruction. If this man is voted out of committee and is then approved by the senate, the US's image in the world will definitely suffer more than it already has.
These hearings promise to be filled with fireworks, as their predecessors were. Never a dull moment. We provide live threads here at dKos so we can follow the bouncing ball for our comrades who are cubicle dwellers. Live transcription is a wonderful thing!
Tune into C-SPAN 3. The hearings are scheduled for 10 - 3:30pm ET. Unfortunately, I need to step out for a while this morning, so someone will need to step in to make sure new diaries are posted throughout the day. Thanks!
