Apparently yelling during a pep rally isn't presidential, neither is (allegedly) receiving Botox injections, judging from the number of diaries devoted to these subjects...
Taking advantage of a national tragedy in order to ram through a radical domestic agenda for which one never received a popular mandate? Presidential, apparently.
Unilaterally begin a war with questionable evidence and unclear motivation? Presidential, you say? Fine.
Well, judging by the recent stories Drudge is dredging up, I ask this...
Is it presidential to be caught picking your nose in public?
It's no secret, of course; do a Google search on "Bush picks his nose" and you'll find a dozen or so websites devoted to the topic, as well as tapes and photos of Dubya prospectin' for nostril gold. But given what Fox can do with a five-second snippet of film, is there any way we can get this into the public consciousness and make this an issue of appearing "presidential"?
Should the press ask Bush point blank if he's done this? If he denies it with such overwhelming evidence, well, as we know, it's not the act but the lying about it that's the problem.
Can the Dems exploit this? In terms of diplomacy and national security, Kerry and Clark might want to point out that heads of state may be reluctant to shake Dubya's hand. Edwards can point out how this hurts workers in the tissue-manufacturing industry. Dean can point out how it negatively affects one's health. Lieberman, of course, will probably admit to doing it.
For those that may find this inappropriate, I didn't set the rules of what appears presidential to the public; if Bush is going to be to held to the same standard, should his picking become an issue?
