Gore jumping in? Ok - a few questions for him

Wed Oct 10, 2007 at 02:27:12 PM PDT

I'm voting Dem in '08, and not seeing much reason for enthusiasm, here, as our elected Dems seem simply unwilling to tackle the Big, Scary issues. Hell, a lot of them voted for Kyl-Lieberman, which many suggest opens the gates for Bush to launch a war on Iran.
And if they didn't learn from letting that idiot loose on Iraq - if they're willing to let him do it again - what use are they?

So, in response to the possibility of and the other blogs anticipating a Gore candidacy --
Questions for Gore:

* Will the U.S. sign and ratify Kyoto or a strong successor to Kyoto under a Gore administration?

* What do you plan to do to address the disaster Bush has made of Iraq? 1.2 million Iraqi dead later, I know it's complicated, but I'm curious.

* I fear that the GOP would merely need to smear you as someone Bush beat before. They'd be wrong, but I still see it happening, and see a sleepy-eyed electorate as unlikely to wonder why you were never made president. Can you address such a tactic, or turn it back?

* Give me some hope. The elected Dems in Congress have done some good things -- raising the minimum wage, and they may just turn Bush's SCHIP veto back on him. But mostly, I and many others see in our elected Dems a group clustered at the MOTR, afraid to rock the boat, unwilling to, for example, impeach or censure Bush or Cheney, unwilling to act decisively to defund the war, or even to use the threat to force the Republicans to negotiate; instead, our elected Dems give in and let no change whatsoever carry the day again and again. Would you change that? 'Cause we need just that sort of change. A frightened-to-rock-the-boat, MOTR Dem leadership simply isn't getting done what this country desperately needs to get done.

I'm willing to listen. I'm even hopeful.

(And in the spirit of democracy and free and open discussion and debate, I hope no one posts to complain about Dems bitching about Dems. Such debate is at the heart of any healthy democratic organization.)
((AND, sorry about this, but I have a class to teach at 7 ET, so I may not be around long to engage one-on-one -- but I'd sincerely like to see these answered. ))
