Obama Goes In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida on Clinton to Polite Applause

Sat Oct 13, 2007 at 04:22:30 AM PDT

Just to get y'all primed for Obama's latest speech, I first would like to post this Video:

Did you make it through the whole 10 minutes?  Good.  The original recording from 1968 was 17 minutes long so consider yourself lucky.  For the time being.

Here's 14 more minutes of Barack Obama's latest attack on Senator Clinton:

While I don't know if this is a departure from the Politics of Hope, I can safely say there is nothing offered in that Speech that even pretends to offer a solution to any problems currently facing Americans except to say Obama seems to believe that stopping Clinton is, itself, something that will help Americans.  While I realize a lot of Obama supporters also believe that the best way to solve problems currently facing Americans is to stop Sen. Hillary Clinton from becoming President, I think Obama should be able to provide a raison d'etre of his Candidacy that exists in some way beyond that goal.

Sen. Obama used to do that.  He made policy speeches about Diplomacy.  He delivered speeches about Pakistan and taunted Pervez Musharraf with threats and such.  These efforts met with mixed results, but I don't think that meant he should stop telling people where he stands on the issues.

In any case, here is a write up on this speech/attack:

While there was this:

Drake student Archana Jhawar said the differences between Obama and Clinton are significant.

"I think it’s a necessary and needed point. Looking at somebody’s history explains what they’re going to do in the future," Jhawar said.

There was also this:

The crowd of about 200 people at Drake University’s Old Main did not applaud until the end of his 20 minute speech.

The video provided above, in many ways, speaks for itself.  I don't think Obama is comfortable or even, himself, inspired by what his advisors (and Bloggers) are telling him what he needs to do to make up the difference between him and Clinton at this point.  His criticisms, even if you agree with them, are delivered listlessly, without enthusiasm.

I'll end this with 8.5 minutes of David Lynch signing autographs.

And a video of a song that was used in the Mr. Lynch's last movie, Inland Empire.

Live version from Letterman.
