Pain (Stop all donations)

Thu Oct 18, 2007 at 06:41:34 PM PDT

We often think of pain as something that is only a negative experience.  However, generally speaking, pain is a message sent that often has a useful purpose and that often gets attention because it speaks loudly to those who feel it.

Personally, I like this part in the wikipedia definition:

As a part of the body's defense system, pain triggers mental and physical behavior that seek to end the painful experience. It is also a feedback system that promotes learning, making repetition of the painful situation less likely.

I don't think Congress feels any pain right now.  In other words, our voices don't trigger the message to our governmental nervous system.

Since Congress seems to be numb to American's voices, as myself and all of you have undoubtedly called and complained until your voices went hoarse and written countless letters...I think we should try an avenue that might still be connected to a few raw nerve endings: Money.

Stop all donations (esp subscription ones), unsubscribe to the campaign emails and fill out the explanation box as well, Call your office and tell them what you did and why.  (Please don't think of this as a GBCW diary and an unwillingness to continue diary...you can re-establish your donations when you feel like they have taken notice).

Seems that congress thinks it can actually just give Bush whatever he wants even though while Democrats were in the minority, we were given closets to have meetings and and our bills never got a review.  On top of that, we had people like Hannity getting on Fox news saying things like "Democrats aren't offering any ideas" to complete the kick-in-the-face.

Every time we capitulate we get a kick in the face as a reward.  We owe them nothing at all.  It would be best to let this bill sunset, since really, there's no power they don't already have to spy on 'terrorists'.

Today, for the first time, I went in to speak to the people in the Congressional office of Harry Mitchell and told them that I would be leaving the party if they pass this God-awful Bill.  As far as I'm concerned, the technological advantage over us this will provide, will be almost impossible to overcome once it is granted to this government.

Make them feel this.  Get their attention in what ever way you can!
