AIDS Walk Austin one more time

WooHoo! When I checked the Walk's page while writing this, they were up to 61% of their goal raised. Earlier this week, I was getting worried, because they were only around 50%, but people are coming through. Thousands of our neighbors are counting on us to be heroes. They are counting on us to make sure that ASA and the other beneficiary agencies continue to be able to provide their clients the services and support they need and deserve. The money raised for the AIDS WALK allows AIDS Services of Austin (ASA) to provide vital services to this community- our community. ASA currently serves over 1,500 clients, providing vital prevention, education and other support services.
There are 10 other agencies that benefit from the Walk. They are great agencies that help people, that people really count on. Places like the Wright House, a haven for people living with or at risk of contracting chronic illnesses, where the mind, body, and spirit are nurtured through prevention, education, care, and compassion in a culturally inclusive setting. Waterloo Counseling Center, established in 1983 their mission is to provide affordable mental health counseling services and training with an expertise in gender and sexual diversity.
As I'm looking at their page, the names of the teams & the individual fund raisers scroll by, and it makes me so proud. The teams are anything from beneficiary groups to the radio station I listen to, to teams that obviously have personal reasons for raising this money. The top individual has raised over $5,000! Wow. That is just fabulous! I'm proud to be associated with such people.
