The Presidential Medal of Freedom,

I thought the nation's highest civilian honor was supposed to go to a civilian American citizen. Whatever is the matter?
Have we really produced only so much dross in the eyes of Mr. Bush, his mother, and their friends?
I thought the outsourcing of American productive power was a horrible thing. It's taken years to accomplish, but here we are.
And I thought the privatization of military supply was also a horrible thing. The well-being of our army could be in the hands of . . . China, India and the rest of the world.
And then there was the systematic neglect of our infrastructure, which continues unabated. It's a horrible thing that we could pay for with misery.
And now, we have the outsourcing of recognition of merit. There are no more decent civilians in America any more. None. Not one to be found. And so we give the Presidential Medal of Freedom to others, not our own. I'm not saying that these people don't deserve recognition, but is America the only country on earth to recognize them with an American medal of freedom?
Does the great Bush really think his Presidential Medal of Freedom is on some kind of par with the Nobel Peace Prize (which he did not and will never get)? I've heard he's petty and mean-spirited, is this just another expression of those characteristics?
I think the Presidential Medal of Freedom should be awarded posthumously to Molly Ivins.
