Tech writer David Pogue of the New York Times thinks it might be happening.
He writes on his blog, Pogue's Posts:
So, somebody is going around to various blogs online, leaving weird little messages about various shows on CNN. Some are positive, some are negative, but all contain weirdly detailed information about the shows' air times, hosts, and so on. All are being posted by the same person.
According to this Wired story, the obvious conclusion of many bloggers is that CNN is trying out some weird new kind of viral marketing campaign, trying to drum up interest in its shows, even when some of the comments are negative. CNN strenuously denies the charge. So if CNN really isn't behind it, who or what is? Have we already entered an age when even Web logs are gunked up by spam and advertising?
I haven't seen it here at DKos, and don't expect we will. If this is a marketing thing it is really low... another reason to distrust CNN?
