Tricky Mickey Huckabee comes off as the kind of guy you might want to have a beer with. He smiles a lot, has a good sense of humor and plays the bass. He has some populist sounding economic policy ideas that may please some independent voters, but will be hard for corporate conservatives to embrace.

But don't let this veneer fool you. Good old Mickey has a kooky side that may make George Bush look like Lincoln or Churchill.

"I don't want to conclude that there's a problem, but I have an obligation to donors and the taxpayers to find out more," Grassley said in a statement.

He also told the Los Angeles Times: "Jesus came into the city of Jerusalem on a donkey. Do these ministers really need Bentleys and Rolls-Royces to spread the Gospel?"

Huckabee, a former governor of Arkansas, told Time magazine he is maintaining his support for Copeland during the inquiry.
