The Talking Points On Rudy Giuliani
Sun Nov 25, 2007 at 07:36:48 AM PDT
If you want to know why Rudy Giuliani could be the first major political party candidate to lose all 50 states if he were to get the nomination of the Republican Party, read this.
I've compiled perhaps the most extensive and accurate list of Giuliani on the issues ever compiled and there is more reporting and journalism in this one diary than you have seen from NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, FAUX, the NY Times, and the Washington Post combined on Giuliani's record. Of course if you want even better information, read Wayne Barrett, Glenn Greenwald and many others.
If Giuliani is the nominee, all the Democratic opponent has to do is read this diary (conveniently formatted in simplistic outline form) and put together a bunch of campaign commercials based on the info contained herein. It's the road to a landslide.
A. Giuliani and 9/11.
1. He's despised by New Yorkers because of his failures and exploitations. He couldn't get elected dogcatcher in NYC even if he was running against Michael Vick.
2. Pre-9/11 Failures Or Facts
a. Mentioned the 1993 WTC bombing 1 time prior to 2001 and in an entirely different context.
b. Used money meant for a police/firefighter command center for an F-pad for his mistresses.
c. Ignored FBI counterterrorism recommendations by putting the command center in the one place the FBI said not too.
d. Appointed incompetent cronies like Bernard Kerik to run a police dept.
e. Mentioned the words Islamofascists and Islamoterrorism zero times prior to 9/11.
f. Refused to provide the firefighters with radios that counterterrorism experts said were needed back in 1995.
g. Instead, Giuilani gave a no bid contract to Motorola for defective radios. (This is how Giuliani governed, all cronyism.)
h. Giuliani never even opened an office of emergency management until 1999, six years after the first WTC attack. Giuliani only set this up because of a water main break, not terrorism.
i. Giuliani never had unified command of police and firefighters, which is something that you learn in emergency management 101 on day one.
3. The Day of 9/11
a. Spent the entire day looking for a TV camera and running around lower Manhattan clueless instead of doing his job.
b. Somewhere in a cave, Bin Laden was saying, "Thank Allah Rudy Giuliani is Mayor." Giuliani's failures and incompetence prevented about 1500 lives from being saved.
4. After 9/11
a. Tried canceling the 2001 mayor's election.
b. Halted rescue and recovery efforts for the bodies of victims, many of them firefighters.
c. Endangered workers by lying about the environmental conditions at Ground Zero.
d. Spent more time at Yankee Stadium than Ground Zero.
e. Because he is hated by firefighters, Rudy had to pay one firefighter to support him and called it political consulting strategy.
f. Cheerlead Bush's decision to ignore Osama Bin Laden and invade Iraq.
g. Eliminated the public trust fund for moneys to go to widows of 9/11 and instead set up a private trust fund where Judith Nathan and both their cronies stole over 1.2 million dollars in so called fees from this trust fund. If the city had administered the trust fund, this 1.2 million would have gone straight to the victim's widows.
B. Ghouliani The Creep
a. His own children won't have anything to do with him.
b. Refuses to show up at his daughters main events in her life. She's still a teenager.
c. Divorced his wife on television without her knowledge.
d. Build an F pad within a command center meant to fight terrorism.
e. Was married to his 2nd cousin for 14 years.
f. Married to Judith Nathan, who was Michael Vick before Michael Vick was Michael Vick.
g. Doesn't even attend his own son's high school graduation.
h. Exploits his own treatment of cancer to make dishonest claims about Britain's health care system.
i. A judge had him kicked out of Gracie Mansion in divorce proceedings because he was flaunting his mistress in front of his two young children.
j. After Patrick Dorismond (who was planning on becoming a cop) was wrongfully killed by a rogue officer who lost his cool because Dorismond didn't want his drugs, Giuliani smeared Dorismond and protected the rogue cop by releasing Dorismond's sealed juvenile record.
k. Ms. Baez son Anthony was killed in a chokehold by officer Francis Livoti. Livoti had 12 prior incidents of abuse complaints. Despite the obvious murder by Livoti, Giuliani protected him. Nevertheless, Livoti was convicted and went to jail. When Ms. Baez called in Giuliani's radio show to denounce Rudy for supporting Livoti, Giuliani sent two cops THAT DAY to harass her only living son by pulling him over at a stop sign and then pointing a gun to his head.
l. Told a caller on his radio show on July 23, 1999 who objected to Giuliani's plan to ban ferrets as pet that the caller needed help and needed to consult a psychologist or psychiatrist because of his devotion to weasels.
C. Giuliani on Crime
a. For 36 consecutive months prior to Giuliani taking office, the crime rate fell in NYC. (Kudos to Wayne Barrett [a must read on Giuliani} for pointing out that the New York Times only did 1 story on this and that story never mentioned Dinkins.)
b. When Giuliani took over, NYC was one of the safest big cities in America.
c. NYC has always been one of the safest big cities in America.
d. Crime rates in NYC fell at rates below the national avg for 1993-2001. Thus Giuliani's record is below avg.
e. Crime rates in the early to mid 1960s were lower than they were when Giuliani left office.
f. Notwithstanding the below avg crime record, Giuliani engaged in a systematic pattern of statistical fudging where crimes that happened were not recorded. Thus, Giuliani's record is even worse than the statistics show.
g. This statistical manipulation "officially" shows zero people being murdered in New York City on September 11, 2001 at Ground Zero. Giuliani did this because he didn't want the statistics being counted in his so called record.
D. Giuliani the Racist
a. Hired confederate flag supporters to run his campaign in South Carolina.
b. Amadou Diallo.
c. It was so bad in NYC that his African American deputy mayor had to be given police credentials after being pulled over ten times for driving while black.
d. Abner Louima
e. Black employment for city agencies in NYC actually declined despite the terrific national economic trends to the contrary.
E. Ghouliani's upbringing
a. His father was a convicted felon, convicted of robbery (with a gun) against a milkman.
b. Giuliani actually didn't grow up in NYC, he grew up in Garden City, Long Island with incredible wealth and everything handed to him on a silver platter. You will find no mention of this in Giuliani's biography which conveniently omits 13 years of his life.
F. Giuliani on Immigration
a. Supported illegal driver's license for illegal immigrants while mayor.
b. Has flip flopped, once took positions to the left of every pro immigrant group. Has now adopted the positions of Tom Tancredo and Duncan Hunter.
G. Giuliani's Notorious Supporters
a. Ann Coulter b. Pat Robertson
c. Sean Hannity d. Roger Ailes
e. T Boone Pickens f. Bernard Kerik
H. Giuliani On The Social Issues
a. He may have once been pro choice but he is now firmly ultra right wing and anti choice as evidenced by his endorsement from Pat Robertson. Giuliani would appoint ultra right wing, anti choice, anti Constitution, authoritarian Federalist Society judges to our courts.
b. He may have once been tolerant on gay rights but that is no longer the case.
c. Giuliani does not believe in freedom once defining freedom as submission to authority.
d. Giuliani tried to close down a museum because he didn't like one of its paintings.
e. Giuliani tried to ban an advertisement on a bus because he didn't like the ad.
f. Actually advocated arresting people simply for being homeless.
I. Giuliani on Military and Terrorism Issues
a. Has been silent about our troops being mistreated at Walter Reed.
b. In a CNN interview of October, 2004, Giuliani blamed the troops for weapons that disappeared when it was not the troops fault.
c. Is being consulted by war mongering Armageddonists from the Dick Cheney wing of the Republican Party.
d. As a prosecutor, despite Giuliani's lies to the contrary (most notably he had no involvement in the Klinghoffer prosecution), Giuliani was only involved in prosecuting ONE case related to terrorism (sales of weapons involving Iran) but the judge threw out 46 of the 55 counts because of errors in Giuliani's office. Giuliani eventually had to terminate prosecution of the case. It would be bad for a prosecutor to make 1 error on a count but 46???????
J. Other Giuliani Lies on Issues
a. Giuliani didn't cut welfare like he said he did. He simply recategorized what welfare was to change the statistics. Example, if a person was late by one day for a welfare check, they were categorized as no longer being on welfare even if they later got the check. As the New York Times reported (a rarity), less than 4% of all people in NYC who were kicked off welfare under Giuliani actually got full time jobs.
b. Giuliani actually raised middle class taxes on New York City residents during his mayorality. (ex: phone use tax increase) But it is true that Giuliani cut taxes for millionaires and gave sweetheart deals and corporate welfares to his cronies like those at Merrill Lynch and Motorola.
c. Giuliani claims he lowered the hotel sales tax in NYC which created tourism in NYC. Although Giuliani lowered it slightly, this amount was far less than the hotel sales tax cut of then governor Mario Cuomo.
d. Giuliani like to claim that NYC had squeegee men on every corner. However, a 1993 NYC police Dept. report says that there were less than 75 squeegee men in all of New YOrk City prior to Giuliani taking office, something confirmed by Bill Bratton, Giuliani's first police commissioner.
e. Giuliani likes to blame Clinton for the USS Cole attack of October, 2000 but it wasn't until Bush took office that the CIA confirmed Bin Laden's involvement. Bush's responded against an air strike of Bin Laden saying it would "give Bin Laden a propaganda advantage" and that "tit for tat responses would be counterproductive." But Giuliani still blasts Clinton.
K. Conclusion
Giuliani is running on false perceptions. If the realities are known, he will LOSE ALL 50 states in the general election. (This sentence should be repeated hundreds of times over by Democrats.) Make these realities known.
