Rumors that the special rate rooms at the Austin Hilton were already booked have been greatly exaggerated. I'm told by senior Netroots Nation 2008 honchos that there are rooms to be had. I have no idea how long the supply will last, but I do know the introductory low rate for admission will go up on Dec 1.

For those of you on a tight budget, there is everything from discount motels like a nearby Super 8 to CouchsurfingDotCom; use at your own risk. Austin does have a mass-transit bus system that serves the downtown area reasonably well complete with an interactive route and map finder.
