The Color of Climate Change (w/poll)

Tue Nov 27, 2007 at 08:58:23 PM PDT

Imagine a world of vibrant, lush color. A world with vivid red sunsets, clouds awash with a warm crimson glow.  Startling red roses excite your senses, making you feel flush with life at the beauty of nature.  Crisp red apples beckon you to savor their juicy sweetness.
Brilliant red, yellow, and orange leaves slowly float to the ground gently swirling in a soft unseen wind.  Citrus trees laden with bright oranges, lemons, and tangerines beckon you with their clean, fresh scent.
The warm yellow sun basks you with glorious light as you continue on the beaten path. Soft, golden sunflowers push upright to the sky.
The dewy, verdant green grass welcomes you and cushions your fall. Stout mossy oaks, pines with life scampering through the lofty limbs, and fragrant magnolias compete for their rightful spot on the hill.
Clear blue skies dotted with puffs of cotton for clouds surround the horizon.  A riotous bluejay settles on a low limb and takes a stand.
Indigo violets argue whether to shrink or consult Sir Issac Newton about their true color.
As you ponder this world bursting with color, the spector of Climate Change rears up after the fold....

Please take the time to read The UN Human Development Report.

There is a window of opportunity for avoiding the most damaging climate change impacts, but that window is closing: the world has less than a decade to change course.(my bold) Actions taken—or not taken—in the years ahead will have a profound bearing on the future course of human development

A stunning statement with wideranging implication for us all.

The spector of Climate Change races through our vibrant world threatening to change the warm reds, yellows, oranges, blues, greens, and violets to angry greys, deathly blacks, and sallow, listless dry sands.
I am not a scientist but I am a resident of this great planet Earth.  Please help if you can.
