Coulda, shoulda, woulda

With tears running down my cheek, I'm watching Al Gore give his speech before the Nobel Peace Prize audience in Oslo - saying all the right things to a concerned, intelligent group of people who genuinely care about the future of this planet. He and all those in the room are looking far beyond next year, the next decade and the next century, to try to do something to control our numbers, our waste and our abuse of this delicate planet.

Al Gore SHOULDA been our president. Al Gore COULDA made a difference in our country's path during the last 7 years.  Al Gore WOULDA made an even greater impact on uniting the people of the world as President of the United States.

Instead, we have an arrogant, warmongering, narrow-minded administration leading our country and the world down a path of selfish, corporate imperialism. In just those 7 short years, our young soldiers have been killed or maimed in a completely worthless war, our economy is pretty close to collapse as we extend our personal and national debt beyond the limits of
sanity. Our reputation around the world has sunk to it's lowest levels. We can go on and on about the abuse and disfunction of the Bush administration, but it appears we will just have to wait until his term is up - there is no hope that the majority party will rid us of this incompetent boob through impeachment, even though I seriously doubt that there was ever an administration more deserving of it.

Meanwhile, Al Gore, this superb statesman, gave such a stirring speech to the world concerning what needs to be done to slow down global climate change that threatens coastal areas, water supplies, our atmosphere, agricultural zones, world economies and our precious wildlife resources.
How sad that this dedicated and future thinking person has not been our president for the last 7 years. No war, no tanking economy, respect from other nations, movement to work with other countries toward solving world wide problems - it coulda, shoulda, woulda been grand!
