John Edwards Shows Class: Rejects Clinton Smear Against Obama
Wed Dec 12, 2007 at 11:56:26 PM PDT
A quick diary to note that John Edwards rejects the smear by the Clinton Campaign against Obama. The antics by the Clinton campaign have been noted previously. Including a rather lame CYA by the offending party.More below the jump.
I'm still pretty angry about the antics by their campaign. Number one, as a black male, who sees the thinly veiled racism in saying that he will be attacked as a drug dealer (although it is only the Clinton Campaign that has inferred this so far; no republican used this in his senate race in 2004, and NOBODY has even implied as much to date). Number two, as a defense attorney that has seen many persons of color turn their life around after problems with drugs and unfortunately many fall through the cracks. But at least class is being shown by other presidential candidates.
"This is not the time to go back to the same old politics of, 'now I'm going to smack you over the head with a baseball bat and call into question your character,'" Obama co-chairman Ned Helms told reporters in a conference call earlier Wednesday, decrying what he said was Clinton's negative campaign.
In Iowa, Democratic presidential rival John Edwards said of the comments: "I reject it. I reject it, and I want nothing to do with that kind of politics."
Kudos to John Edwards for rejecting these disgusting smears. I am an Obama supporter, but Edwards is certainly my number two choice.
