Can John Edwards Win the General?

Well let's see. He's got:
- a populist platform
- a concise and hard-hitting message
- broad national appeal
- the best head-to-head Republican matchups 11 months out
- plenty of money after the national Democratic convention
- a large generic Democratic advantage after 7 years of BUSH HELL
The only thing missing is 4 months of money while few are paying attention, when he'll rely on the DNC, 527s, unions, the pro-Democratic media, his own website, and an army of Democratic bloggers to blunt any attacks from the Rethugs.
We've seen the other side debating for months now, trying to outdo eachother on bigotry, torture, and perpetual war. There are no Ronald Reagans to fear, no inspiring leaders there at all.
You don't have to own a political crystal ball to see that John Edwards as our Democratic nominee has a good-to-great chance against ANY Republican.
And when he wins the general election, we'll have a President that will fight for us and is beholden to nobody but us.
I don't know about you, but for me that's the
Best. Thing. Ever.
