On July 4th, 2006 Jack Cafferty of CNN's Situation Room was going to ask the following question: What does it mean when most Brits see America as a cruel, vulgar & arrogant society? The reason the question didn't get asked was because North Korea set off 7 missles & has tried to scare the hell out of America. But, I think I want to take a crack at answering this question anyway. Here we go.
Dear Brits,
The reason you see us as a cruel, vulgar & arrogant society is because for this moment we look & act that way.
But, I would like you to try & remember a few years back before George Bush became President.
Go back to when Bill Clinton was President, ask yourself a question. More below the fold:
When the Serbia/Bosina crisis began your Prime Minister Tony Blair & our American President Bill Clinton worked together & used NATO troops in a safe & wise way. Keep this in mind as I come forward to today & the U.S. President George Bush. Do you see the difference I am trying to make here, American President as opposed to U.S. President? The American President Bill Clinton worked well with your Prime Minister, while many know in our hearts that the U.S. President George Bush sucker punched Prime Minister Blair to get him involved with the Iraq War. There isn't anything some of us regret more than placing our & your servicemen & women in jeopardy. You correctly see the U.S. President Bush acting like the Texas cowboy flashing his 6 gun & daring Prime Minister Blair not to help him. Prime Minister Blair probably thought that the U.S. President Bush would call him a whussy & rather than have Americans think the Brits weren't up to the mark to fight a war, he allowed the U.S. President Bush to push some place he probably did not want to go. Mind, I'm taking a guess here as to how the U.S. President Bush did this to your Prime Minister, but, considering how we've seen this U.S. President operates & the things he does to his own citizens, it's a decent guess.
On your Prime Minister's last visit to the White House I had kind of hoped that your Prime Minister would have taken a poke at the U.S. President & when he was finished would have looked at the U.S. President & said, "I may have lost my job because I listened to you & the lies you told. But, I'm wiser now, don't you ever do this to the U.K. again."
But, your Prime Minister showed courage & class & for that he deserves what we call here, "PROPS".
But, England I have to ask you to do me a favor, keep the differences between American Presidents & U.S. Presidents in mind. The people of America are stuck with George Bush for another 2 years or so, & when the U.S. President Bush finally leaves office, we are going to have a great deal of things we as Americans are going to have to repair that this U.S. President has done just to us. We also as Americans know that we are going to have a great deal of repair work to get our European allies to trust us again, because of what the U.S. President Bush has done to all of you.
Finally, on a personal level, I'd like to ask some of you a question. You think we are cruel & vulgar & arrogant, what makes you think we don't see some of you the same way?
Let's just take a good look at this year's World Cup, the U.K team did a wonderful job to get as far as they did. But, your fans are just as cruel & vulgar & arrogant as you think us. Your fans pick drunken fights & cause damage & hurt people. You treat players of "color" with disrespect.
If a fan during one of our "football" games ever did 1/2 of the stupid things we've seen your fans do, he'd be in jail for a year. Why? Because some of us Americans reallllly don't like violence. We know that "our "football" is just a game & that there is always next year". Do we still have trouble with the "color" issue? Maybe, but, I don't think I've ever heard a white fan call a player of "color" the names you call some of your players of "color". In the mean time your fans get a "slap on the wrists", & are sent home to the U.K. where they strut around showing off their bandaids as if they are "badges" of courage.
Well, I've almost finished, but, England, I would like you to always remember, we know what you have suffered at the hands of this U.S. President, we ask you for patience until our next election for President, where many of us hope we will elect an American President, who knows the difference between being a 6 gun slinger, & a man of thought.
Sincerely,
