Mojo Monday: rest your bones edition

Mon Dec 24, 2007 at 07:10:58 PM PDT

Lovely place, this dailykos neighborhood.  Lots of action and excitement, witty repartee flying back and forth, passion and bitterness, hope and fear.  And some of us have to sit on the sidelines.  Due to work, family, health or some otther reason we are unable to participate as actively as we would like.

My humble contribution is past the flip.

For those who want some mojo, or just some light conversation, here is a convenient forum for you to pull up a chair and make some friends.

Hopefully those who are unable to join in the fun during the day can join us here.

I did something unusual this weekend, perhaps others did as well.  My neighbor had a Solstice party, I was happy to join her and her family with my family.  They told me I could come for just the food at 6, or the ceremony at 5.  I was there at 5, of course.  Never having seen the ceremony I was eager to see what would happen.  (My unofficial motto is "Tell me something I DON'T know")

It was sleeting so she cut it short and did the abridged version.  (She promised for the next one it will be more formal and involved).  It was around a fire pit in the driveway (not quite the nature-bonding I expected) and we each had a candle.  We went around the circle and said something that we lost this year, good or bad.  I have lost some memories due to aging and simple time elapsed since the events.  Some of this loss is good, some is not.  But it is sad to feel bits of my past slipping into the dim mists of time.

Feel free to add a loss, a gain or just a happy thought tonight.  I cherish all the people I come in contact with, even the negative events are part of me and my life, but this community gives me plenty to be happy about.  Thank you all.

A few suggestions for my visiting room:

No pictures in consideration of those with skittish computers.

Be polite.

Tip early, tip often.

Comment liberally (pun intended)

Check back tomorrow and tip the folks who can only come in after YOU are done.
