From time to time I think about Bobby Kennedy's run for the presidency in '68. I can't think too long tho or I get a bit angry, a bit sad, and a bit depressed, over how things might be so different, even today, if he wasn't killed and if he had won the Democratic nomination.
Can you imagine- perhaps Democrats wouldn't have suffered the two catastrophic defeats in '68 and '72. Maybe Bobby would have been able to keep united the old Democratic base- minorities, older folks, and working-class white voters, the latter of which we've lost. Of course there wouldn't have been Nixon to kick around. All the possibilities. I guess history charts its own course tho.
