A very ominous exchange, as reported by the New York Times, from a back-and-forth today between the man of the hour, Russ Feingold, and John Negroponte.
Ignorance isn't bliss.
In one pointed exchange, Senator Russell D. Feingold of Wisconsin, a Democrat, asked Mr. Negroponte whether there were any other intelligence programs that had not been revealed to the full intelligence committees.
The intelligence chief hesitated, then replied, "Senator, I don't know if I can answer that in open session."
What the heck else could the government be engaged in that they shouldn't be?
And will the media please find out for us and not withhold the story for 12 months before telling us that our rights are being violated and the Constitution shat upon?
