Please use this thread to talk about your personal experience at a Dean Meetup tonight. You can also use it to talk about previous experiences at Dean meetups, or previous experiences volunteering for Dean. I encouarge you to be as solopsistic as you may want.
For me, tonight was the best meetup since the very first one I attended in May. I have a thread about that meetup here, The Non-Political Side of Politics. Tonight, we met in an Ethiopian Restuarant on Baltimore Avenue, just four block from where I live. If you have never had Ethiopian food, you should try it. Its really is just about the best dining experience I have ever had.
Anyway, tonight was small, only around 15-20 people. It was very cold out, and there are 16 meetup locations in Philly, so such a small turnout really wasn't that surprising. People liked my plan to canvass / leaflet / table Delaware in January, and several pledged to participate, so that was good. I wrote two letters, one was my best ever, the other probably my worst ever. I ran into a friend who grew up in West Philly, and who seems to know everyone in the area (meeting him is always a greet way to meet other people). After the meetup, at the bar, just by having a pile of Dean literature sitting around I talked eight people into signing up for Dean, and met several new people with whom I exchanged email. Great conversations, not all (or even most) about politics) A few of us even pledged to write a novel, as a group, over the next month.
Actually, this was probably the best meetup ever. Man, am I happy tonight.
