I am anti abortion, I don't like abortions, I would prefer that no abortions were ever performed. That's the way I feel personally. Where I differ from the "Pro Life" crowd is that I don't feel that we should outlaw abortions.
So if I am asked where I stand, I'm "Pro Choice" but that isn't entirely true, I am "Pro Life" too.
We "Pro Choice" people who are against abortion but don't feel that it should be outlawed, need to form an alliance with the "Pro Life" people feel that the law should be changed.
This alliance would attack the "Pro War" people that have taken over our government.
How will we form this alliance, not easily, and we can write off the real fanatics.
But there are plenty of middle of the road people who are "Pro Life" and have been voting that way, but are starting to question their leadership.
Look at the polls on Bush, 36% approval, 40% approval, the middle of the road crowd is shifting away, the true fanatics of the "Pro Life" crowd are in the 40% who still approves of Bush, but we don't need them.
How do we turn these middle of the road "Pro Life" voters into Democratic voters.
We tell them the truth, that we are against abortion!
That abortion is wrong, we know it, and we are willing to work to reduce them, but we just cant force women to have babies that they are determined to abort.
We need to stress that outlawing abortion would not end abortions anyway, due to the morning after pill being available in the rest of the world. It may increase travel, but it wouldn't end abortions.
We need to gently stress that it is not our place as a people to look inside the bodies of other people and say you cant end a pregnancy, all we can do is say, please don't end it, we can help you if you want to keep the baby, then actually help them.
Are we Democrats against abortion, of course we are!
The abortion rate went down every year during the Clinton administration.
Due to the programs in place to help expectant mothers.
The abortion rate went up every year during Bush.
Due to the cutting of these programs, and the religious sex education that doesn't teach contraception, just abstinence.
Are these middle of the road "Pro Life" voters willing to give up many of the rights we treasure by supporting a Right Wing platform, just to get a law in place that would outlaw, but not end abortion, I think not.
We need to reach these voters.
We can do this by agreeing with them that abortion is wrong.
These people don't approve of the War in Iraq, either do we.
You see, we agree on a lot of issues.
We need to steer the discussion towards the horrendous offence of starting a war on a bunch of lies.
The increase in the abortion rate under Bush.
Our loss of credibility in the world due to Bush.
The loss of 19,000 American troops under Bush's leadership.
The killing of 100,000 innocent Iraqi people.
The gas prices.
Now in for the kill.
A Vote for any Republican is a vote for Bush.
This is a talking point that we need to stress.
As we go after candidates across the country we need to equate these incumbents with W himself.
They are one and the same.
They voted with Georgie, they lied for Georgie, they shilled for Georgie.
The Republican incumbents who enabled Bush to destroy this country, and increase the abortion rate every year, need to be replaced.
