If you take any of what Bill O'Reilly is saying seriously, there's got to be something wrong with your view of the world.
This isn't to say that his 'help' with pushing legislation through on tougher laws against child predators is wrong, but, i do think that he uses stories of people like Jessica Lunsford to 'pad' his programs on both radio and television to help maintain the illusion that he truly is 'looking out for you'.
What i'm speaking of in terms of specifics are his repeated and consistant verbal attacks against anything that doens't mesh with his 'T-Warrior' perpective on the world and those that inhabit it.
Recently, as people here at DailyKos already know, the King of the Culture Warriors has started his latest assault against anything forward thinking, naming George Soros as the person that should take the brunt of this attack.
With an all too stern delivery that borders on comedy, O'Reilly ( over the last several weeks ) has urged his viewership to stand up and take note of what exactly this man Soros is capable of. And his propaganda seems to be working. He's already reading emails on his television program from people wanting to know what they can do to stop this man. But, one has to beg the question, are all of those emails for real?
On some nights, the emails seem to gel all to neatly with O'Reilly's skewed viewpoint. While some nights, he'll read emails from 15 year olds that just couldn't stand the urge not to tell O'Reilly how great his latest book was. It would shock me to no end if i met one 15 year old that would even read anything of his ( much less love it to the extent of which a few of O'Reilly supposed 'teen viewers' have ) unless it was forced upon them by their school or a parent. And that would be grounds for child-abuse. But, i digress.
It would be great to see George Soros on O'Reilly's program, but we all know that that would never happen. This is one of the tactics that O'Reilly and his producers employ to help keep his loyal fans disinformed. If you don't get a true alternate perspective, all you have to rely on is O'Reilly's word. Several people whom O'Reilly has attacked have repeatedly requested to be on the program and have been consistantly denied by the producers. The only people ( other than Soros ) that have drawn so much anger and disgust from the self-proclaimed 'humble correspondant' are the group that have exposed the 'spin' and have been denied to most request for a guest spot; Media Matters.
If you haven't seen The Chart, or even if you'd like a good laugh this afternoon, check it out.
Let's take a look at this strange logic, for what it's worth. Using O'Reilly's own tactic, one could say that if a relative of yours donated any sum of money to a hospital to help build a new pediatrics wing, and three years later a child died on the operating table, your relative would be an accomplice to murder. No one would ever be charged with that in the real world, but, this is the mind of a Culture Warrior who's blood is not just red, but red, white, AND blue.
You have to give the guy credit though, his spin is consistant. As many times as his accusations are proven false, all he has to do is point the finger in another direction. If anyone states anything to the contrary or even quotes him in context, those people are part of the 'far-left' and obviously are deep within the hip-pockets of Soros himself.
But, one has only to take just the quickest of glances at what conservative 'think tanks' have done to help push policy along the furthest of 'right-wing' lines to know that O'Reilly is not only biased, but full of the foulest of excrament.
I could go on for days writing about Bill O'Reilly and his screw-ball antics. It's almost become a new form of comedy to certain people when he gets so frustrated with a guest or story that his firey invective gets the best of him and he ends up saying or doing something that he later claims never happened ( like calling Mexican's 'wetbacks' ).
No one's going to change O'Reilly's mind no matter how often they point out what he's doing or has done. It's not wrong to him, and it's certainly not spin, that's for sure.
The signature 'sign-off' of the program is "the spin stops here........". Well, of course it does, that's because the show is over.
So, there's only one thing left.
Let's go back to The Chart and simply slide this blog into O'Reilly's equation.
Soros' money goes down the line to Media Matters. I've just written a blog for a site that O'Reilly has called one of the 'foulest' out there. He's already singling out 'bloggers' that say things about him that he claims are false. I have linked Media Matters twice in this blog and mentioned the name 3 times. So, does that mean Soros owes me money? If this really was the O'Reilly Universe and his 'facts' were facts, i think i might have a check coming to me in the mail.
