I start with a simple Constitutional premise: the Congress appropriates funds.

Therefore, if the Congress does not appriopriate funds for this war, then it deprives the Executive of the power to conduct this war.

What does that call for?  Filibuster.  Follow me on the flip to learn how to put pressure on your Senators to support a filibuster of this Supplemental and every attempt to fund this war that follows it.

If you're like me, you're getting a bunch of emails from Democratic Senators.  They all say that they oppose the war, and this defeat is just a battle and not the war.  

They ask us to keep fighting the good fight.

I say that now is the time to fight.  If 2002 taught us anything, it is that capitulation to Bush will cost us dearly.  Our Senators capitulated in late 2002, just like they are doing now, and what was the result?  Thousands of Americans dead or maimed.  Tens of thousands of Iraqi men, women and children dead or injured.  All executed with our tax dollars.

Now is the time to put this terror to an end.  We must stand now, or lose in 2008, just like we lost in 2002.

I know this community stands with me.  

And we have devoted a great deal of time to a central question: how do we fight?

I say we now must put our Senators to the test.  Will you support a filibuster to kill this atrocious supplemental?

The magic number is not 67, its not 51.  It is 40.

Put out the word.  Tell Russ and John and Ted and Barbara and all the rest.  Now is the time for a filibuster.

Filibuster to end this war!  No legislation.  No appropriation.  No funding.  No war.
