I've been nag free for some time, but I've got a duty to turn the screws, and here's one of those times.
Six of the candidates haven't crossed the 500 contributions threshhold. So I'm going to nag up a storm until we accomplish that goal. As of this posting, the numbers are:
Brad Carson 281 293
Richard Romero 239 249
Samara Barend 300 306
Jan Schneider 271 279
Ginny Schrader 239 247
Jeff Seemann 459 464
Who are these people?
Brad Carson's opponent is an abortionist who wants to put abortionists to death, and thinks
Shindler's List is "pornography". Oklahoma doesn't give us viable Democratic candidates for federal office very often. We've got to take advantage of them when they come around.
Richard Romero is trying to save his New Mexico from the clutches of Heather Wilson, she of the nipple obsession and Howard Stern's arch-nemesis.
Samara Barend has the chance to steal a lean-Republican seat in a three-way race between her and a bitterly divided Republican party in upstate New York. If elected, Samara would be the youngest congressperson.
Jan Schneider is not just running against Katherine Harris, but has a legitimate chance to defeat her. She came close in 2002, and that was after Harris outspent her 10-1. Harris won't coast to reelection, and if the cards fall in the right place, we could help end her political career.
Ginny Schrader is running in one of the D-trip's top targeted seats, and is one of several viable Democrats in Pennsylvania that, combined, would go a long way toward handing the House to Nancy Pelosi.
Jeff Seemann has gone from longshot to underdog, thanks to strong netroots support. His Ohio district has suffered some of the worst job losses in the state and nation, and is critical not just for the US House, but also for Kerry's efforts to win Ohio (and the presidency).
