Taking the "chutzpah" cake, and eating it too!

This is yesterday's news and has no doubt been diaried before, but our local newspaper, the Reading Eagle ran this lovely headline today:
"Bush says Democrats Shirking Duties"
The story doesn't appear in the online version so there's no link, but the article is based on this AP story from Bush's Saturday radio address:
Bush rips Democratic lawmakers' failures
Bush's ridiculous assertions and the paper's misleading headline prompted me to submit the following letter to the editor. Please feel free to borrow from my letter across the fold if you are so inclined:
In another stunning example of unmitigated audacity, President Bush takes the "Chutzpah" cake in chastising Democratic leaders for failing to act on a federal budget. Is his memory so faulty that he doesn't recall the current Congress passing a budget this year? That would be the budget for the current fiscal year that the Republican-controlled House, Senate, and White House couldn't be bothered to pass during the completely useless 109th Congress.
Is Bush so ignorant the he actually believes his own rantings? Or is he so unprincipled that he has no compunction about attempting to mislead the American people to score petty political points? Neither alternative is an appealing prospect.
The President of the United States of America was once considered the leader of the free world. It would appear that our incumbent has abdicated that position to don the coxcomb and marotte of the court-jester in chief. So goes the decline of our once-proud republic.
This whole accusation is truly appalling, and the mainstream media appears to be ready to parrot the nonsense as usual. Please send letters to your hometown editors to let them know the American people are not this gullible!
