Following a wave of state conceal-carry handgun legislation, Democratic hopeful John Edwards has announced his support for a federal conceal-Kerry law. "The American people," said Sen. Edwards at a press conference today in Cleveland, "have increasingly demonstrated their support for the right of citizens to carry concealed weapons."
"All people, including working-class millworkers like my father, deserve this right," he continued. "I'm glad this issue has come up now, because it serves to highlight a related, but even more important issue: the right of states to conceal, or better yet remove altogether, John Kerry from their primary and caucus ballots. This is a right, nay, obligation, that every state in this union should have."
"It's not going to be easy to get the Washington insiders to enact this federal legislation that so clearly might reflect the will of average Americans. But with your support, we can do it. I am so ready for this fight! Please call your Congresspersons and ask them to support S. 2147. Tell them Conceal-Kerry is a civil liberties issue that matters to you."
