Conservative Catholics On Giuliani

In my view, there are two kinds of theology in the Roman Catholic church. Social theology and pelvic theology. Conservative Roman Catholics spend all their time on the latter, and when they do, its almost always on abortion.
There has been a bit of noise around Giuliani's Catholicism, especially from the likes of Deal Hudson, Nicholas Frankovich, and an article in the New Yorker by Peter Boyer. Hudson is a prolific blogger, writing 2-4 posts a day, also seems to find time to write for the Morley Institute. He seems to focus solely on abortion. Also note that Fidelis is also targeting him with this ad.

The real question I have is this: With all the issues that people of thje Church could deal with, you would expect a much richer dialog on areas where the Popes over the last 100 years have spent a considerable amount of time; issues like, as mentioned above, social justice, poverty and stewardship of the land. One only need look as far as Rerum Novarum, and Centisimus Annus. When looking at writings like these, I can't get past the thought how how much these positions are in-line the with the Democratic Party. I have written about this in the past, especially my reaction to Pope Benedict's Deus Caritas Est.
The question is why doesn't the media cover this, and why don't progressive Catholics make their voices heard more?
