Why do we forget this?
I thought I'd bring this one up again, because maybe it will have get more exposure this time. It seems Americans have an increased propensity to listen now.
Richard Perle was Chairman of the Defence Policy Board Advisory Committee from 2001 to 2003 under the Bush administration. He was one of the chief architects for the Iraq war.
Here are some of his quotes from an event in 2003 in London:
"I think in this case international law stood in the way of doing the right thing."
"international law ... would have required us to leave Saddam Hussein alone", and this would have been morally unacceptable.
French intransigence, he added, meant there had been "no practical mechanism consistent with the rules of the UN for dealing with Saddam Hussein".
