Seven Days in May transmogrifies into Seven Days in September?

It’s one of the great scenes in movie history.  Updating the possibilities and the capabilities in today’s world Colonel Casey would complete his sentence, "I'm suggesting, Mr. President there is a plot centered in the office of VP Dick Cheney, involving traitorous NeoCON think tanks, rogue elements of the U.S. military, and possibly elements of the Israeli government to launch a massive, sneak attack on Iran in the near future."  

We’re not weathermen but we know which way the wind blows.  A war with Iran is coming.  Another important daily kos diary on this was posted last night:

Today I received a message from a friend who has excellent connections in Washington and whose information has often been prescient. According to this report, as in 2002, the rollout will start after Labor Day, with a big kickoff on September 11. My friend had spoken to someone in one of the leading neo-conservative institutions. He summarized what he was told this way:

They [the source's institution] have "instructions" (yes, that was the word used) from the Office of the Vice-President to roll out a campaign for war with Iran in the week after Labor Day; it will be coordinated with the American Enterprise Institute, the Wall Street Journal, the Weekly Standard, Commentary, Fox, and the usual suspects. It will be heavy sustained assault on the airwaves, designed to knock public sentiment into a position from which a war can be maintained. Evidently they don't think they'll ever get majority support for this--they want something like 35-40 percent support, which in their book is "plenty."

The United States of America has been transformed into a rump democracy - where 35% of the fascists can rule!

If only one part of the fiction of Seven Days in May were true we might have a chance.  That would be a President in touch with reality, because in reality President George Wanker Bush is one of the warmongering conspirators.  

We are becoming numb to these war with Iran diaries – there are just too many of them.

According to this friend, someone in the Department of Defense called, asking for cost estimates for a model for reconstruction in Asia. The former contractor finally concluded that the model was intended for Iran. Yup – the only thing these incompetent warmongering morons can plan for is shoveling dollars to companies in the military industrial complex like Halliburton.

Returning to the VP’s office working the drums for war with Iran, blogger Steve Clemons warned us about that last spring:

Multiple sources have reported that a senior aide on Vice President Cheney's national security team has been meeting with policy hands of the American Enterprise Institute, one other think tank, and more than one national security consulting house and explicitly stating that Vice President Cheney does not support President Bush's tack towards Condoleezza Rice's diplomatic efforts and fears that the President is taking diplomacy with Iran too seriously.

This White House official has stated to several Washington insiders that Cheney is planning to deploy an "end run strategy" around the President if he and his team lose the policy argument.

The thinking on Cheney's team is to collude with Israel, nudging Israel at some key moment in the ongoing standoff between Iran's nuclear activities and international frustration over this to mount a small-scale conventional strike against Natanz using cruise missiles (i.e., not ballistic missiles).

As I diaried back in May, "REPEAT the Vice President of the United States is, planning to deploy an "end run strategy" around the President.

That is unprecedented in American history."  And an act of treason!

A few short months ago it was speculation that Cheney might lose the debate.  That seems to have changed by the summer.  By mid-July I diaried that Cheney was winning the debate on Iran:

As I wrote back then:

There is a powerful, toxic cocktail in the White House. It’s one part Cheney, the terrible tyrant who does not believe in this Republic and does not accept facts that conflict with the warmongering outcome he wishes to impose on us peasants.

It’s also one part Decider – deciding from the options Cheney’s already decided on.  And the sociopathic, narcissistic Decider will never admit failure.  This is the truly scary part - he’s trapped and can never face the failure he in fact is.  

The drumbeats to war have been growing louder for the past several months.

So down the stretch to the ‘Eve of Destruction’ we come!  

It’s just about September and the threats I’ve woven suggest what Jiggs Casey was concerned about,  "I'm not sure.....just some possibilities, what we call, uh "capabilities" in military intelligence..." is going to happen.  War with Iran is in the cards.  

The coming request for an addition $50 billion wasn’t for Iraq it was for Iran.  Bush is reduced to doing the only thing he can really do – reading the cue cards.

Just change 02 to 07 and change a Q to an N and it is exactly the same propaganda.  From the BBC:

In his speech to the American Legion in Nevada, he said Iran's "active pursuit of technology that could lead to nuclear weapons threatens to put a region already known for instability and violence under the shadow of a nuclear holocaust".

He also said: "We will confront this danger before it is too late."

The danger is George Wanker Bush!

The danger is Dick Cheney!

I don’t think Bush and Cheney can win a debate in the sense of achieving some kind of AUMFII for an attack on Iran(No doubt they think the original AUMF gives them the authority to attack Iran).

A new day that ‘will live in infamy’ may be at hand – a treacherous, sneak attack, but instead of being the victim, the United States will be the imperial aggressor.
