From my top 5 earlier choices for VP...I've narrowed it down to only 3...
Gov. Tom Vilsack (IA): Attack dog, can cover Pennsylavania and Iowa.
Gov. Bill Richardson (NM): Hispanic, top person in Southwest.
Sen. Evan Bayh (IN): Not so much of an insider ticket since Bayh will finish his first senate term this year like Edwards. He was governor also for 8 yrs.

And now for my Bush's Vp choice...
Fmr. Mayor Rudy Giuliani...
Why?
"Bush will put Giuliani as the next VP of the United States. Why?
Cheney says that he doesn't want to run in 2008 and every Vice President has gone on to run for office after the previous President's term. But what's wrong with Cheney?
Cheney has been getting a negative approval among the people of America and with all the Halliburton hooplah going on, he could end up hurting Bush's chances for re-election. Even know he has been denying that he won't leave as VP, it's very unlikely that he'll stay on. If he does leave as VP, he'll most likely say that it was due to health problems even though he is in good condition and hasn't had any recent heart attacks (four before the 2000 election). So who will be VP?
There was speculation that Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge, Colorado Governor Bill Owens, and/or Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist would VP...but all of those are very unlikely now and they wouldn't bring that much extra points to Bush. There was a lot of hope from a lot of people that Condoleeza Rice would be Vice-President (as seen on this site, , but with all the Clarke controversy going on right now...it's not likely that she will be VP anymore.
Giuliani is the only person who still has a high approval rating from the Sept. 11 attacks. Bush will look to him to keep the voters in mind of Sept. 11th and by doing that, he'll show that leadership is the key of the ticket.
Giuliani may be a liberal republican and that may not play well with the republican base, but that'll be the only way he can reach out to independent voters and others who may be wary about Bush not keeping America safe.
And is it me...or the whole convention being in NY is also significant.
I'd say there is a 50-50 chance that Giuliani will be chosen.
If not and Bush is elected, Cheney will leave as VP during midterm and Bush will choose someone else.
But that's very unlikely.
