I don't know about you, but I haven't felt this safe since the day we nabbed Saddam Hussein.
Now if we can only catch Neil Diamond!
But I digress...
It appears that once again yesterday, our Fearless LeaderTM must have come unmoored from his official Karen Hughes Docking Station®. (You may recall the last time this occurred. He told Matt Lauer, "We can't win the war on terrorism.")
According to this AP story, Bush made the egregious, Karl-Rove-Heart-Attack-Inducing mistake of taking an actual unscripted question from a reporter.

When a reporter asked Bush about the grim July CIA report on the future of Iraq, the President gave this startling assessment of his intelligence agency's work:
After the speech, Bush brushed aside a bleak National Intelligence Estimate of Iraq's future that spoke of possibilities ranging from tenuous stability to civil war. Bush characterized the scenarios developed by senior U.S. intelligence officials as "life could be lousy, life could be OK, life could be better. And they were just guessing as to what the conditions might be like."
So three years after the massive intelligence failure that brought us September 11, and two years after an intelligence failure that brought us the war in Iraq, Bush continues to suggest that information garnered from the CIA is suspect... that they're "just guessing."
Kerry should pound Bush over the head with this statement. Talk about a lack of leadership. And what a slap in the face (yet again) to the CIA.
I love it when Bush comes untethered from his babysitter...
