In my queer little world, Wednesday, September 28, 2005 was truly an extraordinary day.
After posting a bunch of missives about fully supporting the repeating of old news outing David Dreier, I read with amazement as those very comments were considered to be homophobic.
The irony of it was I read post after post by Kossacks validating their pro-outing views with "by the way, I'm gay" and yet, in reading the anti-outing homophobia charges, didn't see that claim made at all.
I'm not sure what to make of it. Us queers don't think outing is homophobic yet, those who are either heterosexual or closeted think it is. What the heck gives with that?
Do straight people and closeted queers have the corner on being victims of homophobia? I'm beginning to think so after reading and posting here today.
A reading of the dairies today offers up these gems of which none of which were called out for their homophobic basis:
(I'm not going to link back to them because I think that is unfair since I believe most of the comments were made by otherwise well intentioned people without giving thought to what they really said. Those who posted them know who they are. If they are repeated however, I will to show true colors for what they are)
Personally I think the blush
is just fine and the eyeliner is a great idea that will definitely highlight his silk panties.
Dobson, Robertson, and Falwell here is your boy.
I know I am going to get flamed for this
but I can't resist. Its my understanding that when Karen Hughes straps on a dildo David doesn't need the blush any more.
True...
But they always will have the tinted astraglide...
I have his opponent's slogan for 2006...
Blow Dreier Away!
congressional erection
he's probably just positioning himself to take Bob Dole's gig hawking Viagra.
Now that you mention it...
it kinda does make sense that the House and Senate leadership would make a pair...
if frist was gay
would we call it "fristing"?
do manly men frist? n/t
only...
each other!
Will he
...be ramming his legislation through? Or would he be the sort who is open to the submission of amendments?

These are just comments from today. Anyone else see a pattern here?
And this is what really frosts my dyke butt...so-called humor and snarks with gay stereotypes as commentary and yet when out queer people call a spade a spade, we are homophobic?
To that, I say bullshit.
Let's talk about the forced outing of politicians who make their money off the blood of their queer brethren.
I personally don't give a rats tail if someone is gay, straight, bi, trans. All I care about is whether they are doing a good job, as defined by me, a tax paying citizen who gives a damn.
Are they representing my interests? Are they representing what I think are the best interests of our country? This second point is less of an issue if it is someone outside of my district but important as the activities of all the politicians we blog about here who don't directly represent the poster.
However, when politicians use me and my family to further their career interested by pandering and it turns out they are also gay, then there is a problem. I would have the same problem if the person was a dem. I would have the same problem if a closeted person voted for racial or sex biased legislation.
They themselves make it an issue, intentionally or unintentionally when they vote with their political careers in mind instead of with their hearts or soul and go home to live a lie to the rest of the world.
Is it politically correct to out someone? The jury is still out on that one but the posts today offered a keen insight about how the queer Kossacks feel about the issue, at least the out of the closet ones. The queers amongst you have spoken loudly and proudly...and when someone uses their power to stifle us yet is queer themselves, they deserve no mercy.
They deserve no hand holding, they deserve no free passes. Reality is a mean world folks, and it's real mean when you are on the receiving end whether it is in fighting for your rights or living a lie, or fighting for your life after having the shit kicked out of you for being queer.
Maybe one of the posters who thinks bringing this to the table is homophobic should write a letter of support to Chris Crain of Windows Media, a major gay publication firm with outlets across the US about their publishing of Jeff Gannon articles
I've yet to see a coherent post about why outing is wrong beyond the fallacy of privacy.
Privacy? Give me a fucking break. The repugs are still whining about the sodomy ruling, they are still trying to overturn Roe v. Wade and may succeed.
I fought my battles in coming out, as did every other out queer person here. We do it because it is right and it's fucking hard to live in a hard a closet. Unless you have been there, you don't have a fucking clue what it is like to live a lie. I've suffered for it in some ways, and in other ways not so much.
I've had curses thrown at me in unexpected ways (there's nothing like being a stop light and having the voice in the big truck next you yell, "fucking dyke" at you while you have your kids in the car simply because you have a rainbow sticker on it).
In the spirit of not making this diary too long (I already did), I won't even get into how the incidents of hate crimes increase each time anti-queer vote comes up in DC.
