OK, this is my first diary ever. Gently, please.
I received this e-mail from Sen. Cornyn's (R-TX) office, regarding his appearance this morning (18 Nov.) on the Christian Broadcaasting Network:
"For those of you interested in the judicial nomination process, Senator Cornyn will appear on the Christian Broadcasting Network with Pat Robertson tomorrow morning, Thursday, November 18 at 9:00 AM EST - that's 8:00 AM CST, 7:00 AM MTN. This will be a LIVE interview to discuss the options available for moving judicial nominees. Check your local cable listing for channel information.
Thank you.
Beth Cubriel
State Field Director
US Senator John Cornyn"
My reply is shown below.
"Dear Ms. Cubriel:
Thank you for the information about Sen. Cornyn and his appearance on the CBN regarding the judicial nomination process. I am sure that there will be quite a number of nominations coming up in the next four years.
However, I find it extremely interesting that you have my WORK e-mail address, since I have never submitted it to anyone at Sen. Cornyn's office. Would you please respond and let me know the source of your obtaining it for this unsolicited message? Spam is SUCH a problem in the business world these days! And I also find it very interesting that this is apparently being sent out at US taxpayers' expense (by your return address). Is this support of a private broadcast appearance, or Pat Robinson's church? Please explain.
Awaiting you reply to my inquiries eagerly.

Am I out of line here? I object to my work e-mail being used, when I haven't given it to them. But perhaps more importantly, should public funds and offices/staff be used to promote this sort of thing?
I looked carefully at ALL the campaign and "newsletter from the district"-type mailings I received from both Pete Sessions (now, STILL my rep. - ugh!), and Martin Frost. They both seemed to have been scrupulous about identifying campaign-funded pieces, and genuine paid-for by-taxpayers legitimate officeholders' mailers.
Someone tell me if I'm barking up the wrong tree, or if this is objectionable and a possible mis-use of the senator's office. And if so, what should/could be done?
I am wide open to being corrected, and if wrong will put a sock in it.
