The Rezko Family's Campaign Donations

I've been around politicians all my life. My first paying job was working for a Congressman. I guess this will come as a shock, to some, but elected officials meet lots of people. Lots of strangers. Lots of people whose faces and names they won't remember five minutes after they've shaken their hands or had their photos taken with them. I know. I know. It's a sick, cynical world out there.

So, Matt Lauer and Matt Drudge dredged up an old photo of the Clintons standing with Tony Rezko. This is supposed to mean something. Despite the number of times a President and First Lady are photographed with their constituents- who just happen to be the entire citizenry of the United States- I guess we should be shocked when they don't remember everyone. At least Matt Lauer and Matt Drudge think we should be. And I guess at least a few hundred other people do, too. I tend to think a President and First Lady probably shouldn't be expected to remember the names of the literally tens of thousands of people with whom they're photographed, but maybe I'm just sick and cynical.

Anyway, some people are suggesting that the Clintons would not have been photographed with Rezko unless he'd given them something. Something like money. Because we all know the Clintons never do anything unless there's something in it for them. Something like money. Because they're sick and cynical. So, I decided to do a little research. They're a very generous family, those Rezkos. They've given a lot of money to a lot of people. But one family's name is absent. Very clever guy, that Rezko. He got a picture with the Clintons, and didn't even have to pay for it!
