As we know, June 30 is a reporting deadline for political contributions. I live in John Doolittle's congressional district. It has been depressing to be a Democrat in this district, but that is changing. For me, it started with Cindy Sheehan's activism. People started coming out into the suburban streets with candles and American flags and peace slogans, not expecting to see another Democrat in very red south Placer County. But wow, they were there. They are there. And an amazing number of people passing by in their cars at busy intersections honked and waved -- in support!
Now, wonder of wonders . . .
. . . for the first time I can remember, we have a viable Democratic candidate for the 4th Congressional District. Charlie Brown, a veteran (retired US Air Force Lt. Colonel), is running to replace John Doolittle.
Charlie Brown is not the ActBlue list of netroots candidates with good chances to win. I hope he can be added to that list.
I'm not affiliated with Charlie Brown's campaign. I am going to meet him for the first time tomorrow at a house party. But the reporting deadline for this quarter is in two days (June 30), and I'm writing this diary to encourage anyone who'd like to see John Doolittle lose to donate a little something (or a BIG something) to Charlie Brown at this link.
Just like I have to believe Al Gore's message on global warming will get through in time, I have to believe it's possible for Charlie Brown to beat John Doolittle. Heck, even coming close would be close to fabulous.
Can Charlie Brown beat John Doolittle?
