Hell To Pay: Brown v. McClintock Edition II

First, kudos to the Daily Kos community. In just over 4 hours, tonight's Hell to Pay fundraiser for Orange to Blue candidate Charlie Brown has raised more than $5,000 from 159 donors, bringing us within 91 donors of our goal of 2300.

But before we get down to business, meet Jan Brown and hear what she has to say about her husband and their son, Jeff.

Charlie Brown has seen his son go off on four tours of duty in Iraq, while he himself spent 26 years in the Air Force, serving in every conflict from Vietnam, where he received the Distinguished Flying Cross, to Desert Storm. And Tom McClintock? He's spent the last 36 years serving the Republican Party. And McClintock has the nerve to question Brown's patriotism because he wore a camouflage jacket to an anti-war rally?

We've all seen this before. The Republican Party piously talks about their support for the military at every opportunity, but when a veteran dares to run as a Democrat, he or she is "fair game." We saw it with the vile ads run by Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) against Vietnam vet and triple-amputee Max Cleland, where Cleland was linked with Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein. We saw it when Jean Schmidt (R-OH) stood on the floor of the House of Representatives and called Jack Murtha, a Marine during the Vietnam War, a coward for calling for the troops to come home from Iraq. And of course we saw it when the Republican-backed Swift Boat Liars for Bush smeared John Kerry's decorated military career.

And now Tom McClintock, who never spent a day serving anyone but his Party and himself, is smearing Charlie Brown. Help fight against this all too familiar tactic from the Republican Party and give to our O2B candidate Charlie Brown.
