Obama takes the first question by coin toss, and fields a question on how to bailout ordinary Americans from this economic crisis.  He hits McCain right out of the gate, stating that it's Bush and McCain's actions which have led to the current crisis. He also mentions that AIG went on a $400,000 "junket" after Congress bails them out, and says the taxpayers should get that money back and the CEOs should be fired.

This is a strong answer for Obama.  A nice balance of hitting the opposition and stating his broad policy goals.
----------
McCain is playing the "compassionate conservative" role that Bush did years ago.  His tone is even (certainly, he was warned not to bring McTesty to the debate tonight).
----------
McCain gives a shout out to Warren Buffet as a possible Treasury Secretary, and also mentions Meg Whitman. Says that it needs to be someone who inspires trust.

Obama says that Warren Buffet would be a "pretty good choice" for Treasury Secretary.
----------
Obama doesn't miss a chance to distinguish himself from McCain.  Turns the Treasury Secretary question into a response on the middle class and a slam on McCain's "fundamentals" comment to boot.
