GA-Sen: Zell Miller for Chambliss, Bill Clinton for Jim Martin

If you can judge a candidate by the company (s)he keeps, score one for Georgia's Democratic Senate candidate Jim Martin.
And note that the latest surrogate for Martin's opponent, incumbent Senator Saxby Chambliss, is a figure possibly even more reviled by national Democrats than Chambliss himself; turncoat Democrat and former Governor and Senator Zell Miller.
From ThinkProgress:
In 2004, then-Democratic Sen. Zell Miller (GA) threw his support behind President Bush with an over-the-top speech attacking Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) at the Republican National Convention. Earlier this week, Miller continued his assault on liberalism while campaigning for Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-GA). "Saxby could well be the last man standing between a far-left liberal agenda sailing through the United States Senate," said Miller.
For some reason, the NRSC thought it would be a good idea to make a web video of Zell, apparently to stoke excitement among their base. Here's hoping it stokes excitement among ours:
If you've got any cash left over from the long, long election season, drop by the Orange to Blue Page and show the NRSC what a brilliant idea it is to use Zell Miller to attack Jim Martin.
Martin, for his part, doesn't have Zell Miller snapping on his behalf...but he has us, and he has the 42nd President of the United States.
EAST ELLIJAY — Former President Bill Clinton will headline a rally for Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Jim Martin on Wednesday, the candidate’s campaign announced Saturday. Clinton is the first big name Democrat to stump for Martin in his Dec. 2 runoff battle with Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss.
Former Republican presidential candidate John McCain lent his star power to a Chambliss rally last Thursday and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee will stump for Chambliss today.
...
Clinton won Georgia in his 1992 presidential bid. He is the last Democrat to carry the state in the race for the White House.
Martin said Saturday that Clinton — who balanced the budget while in office — would underscore the failures of Republican leadership in Washington regarding the economy.
As the article states, President Clinton is the first big surrogate to campaign with Martin since the runoff began. It's a good coup for the Martin campaign, as Clinton is the last Democrat to win the state in a presidential election.
Hopefully, President Clinton won't be the last Democrat with pull in Georgia to campaign on Martin's behalf; there are several others who could be immensely helpful, like former Georgia Senators Max Cleland and Sam Nunn, Representative John Lewis, and the biggest name of all, President-elect Barack Obama.
With things looking up in Alaska's Senate race, and Minnesota going to a runoff, there's a good chance that a win in Georgia could give President Obama a 60-seat majority in the Senate to play with.
Make that happen. Make history.
And best of all, make Zell Miller and Saxby Chambliss irrelevant.
