So apparently it's official. The British conservatives have renounced the politics of cultural populist demagoguery, and have not only embraced gay rights (including civil unions), but are set to hold their first "pink summit" in an effort to woo gay voters.
"The summit, 'Supporting Young Gay Men and Lesbians - the Way Forward', will be attended by homosexual support groups from around the country. The Conservatives have only just dropped their support for Section 28, which outlawed the promotion of homosexuality in schools."
So why is it that British conservatives have been able to get over themselves, and American conservatives by and large are still reeling that the Salem witch trials came to an end?
