One sign is that no discussion of "the problem", including the problem of the perennial official US relationship with Israel's right tilted government is tolerated. A sign is the vandalism of the keywords in my most recent diary entry:
Tags: Naderite troll bullshit, anti-Semitic crap
Do the members who attacked me, deleted most of my comments, and vandalized the tags, OWN this site? In the poll results in my diary entry, 86 of 301 respondents agreed with my concerns....
These are the consequences of the problem:courtesy of Glenn Greenwald
with the turn towards the right and the unquestioning support from the DKos majority, of just about anything coming out of the transition team now:
UPDATE II: Writing about yesterday's ruling on the Guantanamo detainees, Andrew Sullivan says: "And Obama wants an apologist for this -- John Brennan -- at CIA? Has he lost his mind?"
I'm both entirely unsurprised and basically undisturbed by the fact that Obama's most significant appointments thus far are composed largely of standard Washington establishment figures and pro-Iraq-War hawks, and are devoid of people "on the Left". That is who Obama is -- he's an establishment politician who, with a few exceptions, is situated smack in the mainstream middle of the national Democratic Party.
Rahm Emanuel came from capitol hill on friday, telling the press of his talks with republican leaders, asking for their ideas, attempting to work in a spirit of bi-partisanship. These "leaders" are enablers and boosters of war crimes, corrupt sellers of their offices to Abramoff and other lobbyists, an opposition that "clotured" the senate into irrelevance, and/or bat shit crazy, religious zealots. The American voting majority did not vote in a near democratic super majority for the purpose of even more democratic fealty to discredited, beaten at the polls, republicans.
The voters mostly (mistakenly) think that there are actually two opposing major political parties.
After the crimes against humanity committed over the past seven years, how can the incoming democratic administration hold over Bob Gates at DOD and fraternize with the republican thugs who democratic dominated committees and an incoming DOJ team should be aggressively investigating?
If this is what "winning", and "taking back the country" is going to look like, why did so many work so hard for a result that isn't even clearly a move away from the infection that was the political dominance of the "real" right?
The country has looked pretty ugly, as far as it's right of center tilt, for too many years, and now the incoming administration, and the "flavor" of the Dkos site, are moving more to the right, and it's a crisis condition too many don't recognize, won't consider, refuse to discuss, and react to the mention of, in counterproductive ways. This isn't going away, even if the more put off (over what I've posted) among you, succeed in silencing me.
