No, not that kind of pie......regular ol' all American apple pie.  We'll have some Dutch Apple pie on the Scout Finch family table along with a traditional (free range) turkey, fresh asparagus, homemade whole wheat rolls, mashed potatoes, and all the rest of the fixings. A standard Americana holiday meal in the Finch household with no real surprises, just the traditional comfort food we all crave at this time of year.

The one exception is the stuffing. In recent years, we've started making the most incredible sausage cornbread stuffing recipe on the planet. No, it isn't vegetarian friendly....but the recipe is a can't miss for those who enjoy spicy and meaty dishes. From Epicurious.com:

Bruce Aidells, founder of Aidells Sausage Company, says, "Stuffing was the most important part of my family’s holiday menu. The turkey was always overcooked, but the stuffing was moist and delicious. We usually had two, sometimes three stuffings, but I leaned toward the kind with sausage. It was meaty and spicy, just like this one."

Amen, Bruce. In recent years, this spicy stuffing has become a must-have on our holiday table and a nice twist on "traditional" stuffing.

What is on your table for Thanksgiving? Is there a dish your family/friends insist on year in and year out? Are you brave enough to make a Turducken? Or even braver with Tofurkey? Have a favorite recipe or a Thanksgiving memory you want to share? What are you thankful for? Gather around the big orange family table and tell us all about it.

I'm thankful for this community. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
