So there this "Day of Truth" campaign, in which conservative Christians argue that being gay is a "choice." The point of the campaign is to try to counter The Day of Silence (or perhaps National Coming Out Day--the Magic 8-Ball is unclear on this).
Their argument? Schools are being "intolerant" unless they present "all points-of-view" on being gay.
As John Stewart would say, "Whhhaaaaaat--?! My
brain!"
This is the same argument they make to try to get schools to teach "intelligent design" in science classrooms: appeal to people's sense of "fairness" and desire for "balance." Then present a purely religious point-of-view that has no scientific support whatsoever.
But why the skepticism? I mean, haven't conservative Christians long been well-known for the abiding sense of tolerance of those who disagree with them, and their deeply held belief that schools should present all points-of-view on gay issues?
New rule: groups should have to wait at least fifteen minutes before they make
the exact opposite argument they've been making for the last twenty years!!!Here's a link to their
video, which is both unintentionally funny, and somehow profoundly sad.
