Manny Manuel, the thief who was fired by Orin Hatch for stealing Democratic memos from Senate servers is now leading the Nuclear Option fight on behalf of Frist. In a recent email to Frist allies, he wrote:
[A] straightforward rallying cry: NO DEALS, VOTE PRINCIPLE
The email address he's using to rally his troops and wage this battle:
mmiranda@att.net
One possibility: remind him what Hatch
said of his thieving actions:
[I am] mortified that this improper, unethical and simply unacceptable breach of confidential files may have occurred on my watch.
Improper? Check. Unethical? Yup. Unacceptable? Damn right.
And he's still on their team.

Dear Coalition members and friends,
After some observation and consultation, it seems we need a rallying message that will fire up the engines again and unite our voice Please free to pass this email on.
It is certainly time to praise GOP leaders Frist, Santorum, McConnell and Kyl, but we need also to make ourselves clear to both the few irresolute Republicans and to confused Democrats. I ask us to rally around a simple message: NO UNPRINCIPLED COMPROMISES, and a straightforward rallying cry: NO DEALS, VOTE PRINCIPLE.
As in all efforts, no single crow can take credit for the dawn. Something we see too often in DC. All of you have done a remarkable job in utilizing all your resources on this issue. While the planners planned, you forced the filibuster buster to a timely close. Thank you for the sacrficed resources and your time.
Please feel free to let me know if you need specific ideas or help. As debate begins, a few ideas for you to consider: - Radio Ads, for $5,000 you can buy 60 to 80 minutes. (Expensive TV Ads are useful, but hugely distracting of limited resources and egos.)
- Use all the technology at your disposal to get your members to direct themselves anew to GOP Leaders, and to McCain, Snowe, Collins, Hagel, Sununu, Chafee, and Red State Democrats Byrd, Conrad, Ben Nelson, Bill Nelson, and Bingaman.
- In the nest few days, make grasstop contacts to these and other senators, and especially Warner.
- Book yourselves on radio, and call out calls to the Senate...202-224-3121.
- Finally, it is important that you unleash your most creative and energized colleagues and plan at least one EARNED MEDIA EVENT whether in DC or in your State, in the next 6 days, whether a rally (or a panel discussion in the States) or some appropriate event to inform the debate.
Here is one idea that I always engourage Hispanic leaders to undertake: invite your children to call or write the Congress.
Also, if you have assembled petitions, please get them to Barbara Ledeen at Senate Republican Conference.
Remember, this fight is for the future of the highest court and to keep the stewardship of the Judiciary in the hands of the people. Such high sights require us not to worry about lower issues.
Best,
Manuel Miranda
